'Twas the night before the Mexican Day of The Dead festivities and we decided to create our own memorial to the deceased by hosting a themed craft event at one of the coolest venues in London - Drink Shop Do. A packed room of participants selected their choice of materials from our very own Craft Shrine and we then showed them how to stitch their own traditional sugar skulls. We promised the most colourful crafts stash in the capital to inspire them and we delivered with an endless supply of buttons, gems, jewels and fabrics.
Crafters started with two felt skull shapes which were then decorated up, stuffed and sewn up with a blanket embroidery stitch. We were thrilled to be joined by a complete mixture of crafters, beginners and experienced who all enjoyed a chance to natter and make crafts over cocktails and guacamole.
It was such a popular theme we've already got our thinking ponchos on planning for next year's festivities. Here are some photos from the night. Thanks for having us Drink Shop Do and thanks to all who came.
And thanks for letting us know how much you enjoyed it, we received this lovely feedback from our keen crafter attendees:
"My friend Debbie and I had a lovely and creative evening and would like to commend Make Escape for their hosting skills. They looked great and were so charming and helpful I have no hesitation in recommending them for creative workshops. We both loved creating our skull brooches and were very pleased with the results!! "I had a fantastic night. The two ladies from The Make Escape were friendly and helpful and created a very relaxed atmosphere. There were loads of resources to choose from and lots of sources of inspiration provided. Was happy with the price too." -Tracey
